Celebrate May
This May marks the 49th annual National Bike Month. The local Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committe is sponsoring two events this year to encourage folks to go biking!
Bike to Work and Play Day in Gulf Breeze Friday, May 13 at 8 a.m. Enjoy a fun ride proclaiming May 13 Ride your bike to work and play day. Start with a short ride from the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center on Shoreline Drive to the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce. Gulf Breeze Police will escort on their bikes down Sunset, Fairpoint, Hoffman and Highway 98, ending at the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce where there will be refreshments and door prizes.

Twilight Bike Ride on the Blackwater Heritage Trail Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. Milton’s Blackwater Heritage Trail Citizens Support Organization is the site of the first Twilight Bike Ride. The ride will begin at the Blackwater Heritage Trail Visitor Center where the trail crosses Alabama Street. Beginning at 6:30, cyclists will travel south to the HIghway 90 trailhead and turn back to finish at the Visitor Center.
Free reflectors will be available to the first 50 participants who register. As part of the safety awareness program, there will be a free fitting for children’s bicycle helmets and a free bicycle helmet to participating children while supplies last.
