Pensacola Opera presents Madame Butterfly March 11, 13

She is opera’s most beloved heroine – a beautiful geisha frozen in time. Cio-Cio San surrenders her culture, her religion and her heart to a young American naval officer based in Nagasaki. But a moment of passion translates into a promise of love and marriage for the naïve “Butterfly.” In the end, not even her undying devotion can save her fragile soul from the man she so trusts and adores.

Pensacola opera is proud to present Madame Butterfly as the final opera of its 2004-2005 season on March 11 at 7:30 p.m. and March 13 at 2 p.m. at the Saenger Theatre. This season marks the 100th year anniversary of the opera’s premier and Pensacola Opera has planned several special events to celebrate this milestone.
