Apes from the Zoo become TV stars

The ZOO is headed to Hollywood!

The ZOO is going to be featured on Animal Planet’s new series “The Ultimate Zoo.” Last July, a crew came to The ZOO and filmed Chimp and Gorilla Islands. The television show was in search of zoos that have man-made exhibits that resemble the wild. The producer of “The Ultimate Zoo” was impressed by The ZOO’s naturalistic Chimp and Gorilla Islands and the interaction between the apes and the hoofstock.

Several ZOO employees were interviewed, including Director Emeritus Pat Quinn, General Curator Diane Norris, and ZOO keepers Melissa Wright and Beverly Clinton. The chimpanzees showed off for the cameras (as usual), while the gorillas were intrigued by the equipment.

The episode featuring The ZOO is scheduled to air on Animal Planet Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., and again on March 26 at 2 a.m. and noon.
