UWF’s Music Hall Series continues in April

Chinese Pianist Chang-xin Guan will be at UWF April 4

The University of West Florida Department of Music announces the following concerts to be held in April. Due to advance scheduling, events may be subject to change. All events are open to the public.

April 4

Music Hall Artist Series Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the UWF Music Hall. The concert will feature Chinese pianist Chang-xin Guan and UWF piano faculty members Lynne Lauderdale and Hedi Salanki-Rubardt. Ticketed event.

April 5

Runge Strings Orchestra Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the UWF Music Hall. Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy will conduct the concert. The program will feature Rick Glaze, clarinetist and chair of UWF Department of Music. Music will include the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, two movements from Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings,” Eugene Adkins’ “Masquerade Theatre,” “Symphony in D” by Stamitz and the suite from “Fiddler on the Roof.” Free.

April 6

UWF Downtown Chamber Music Concert at noon at the Old Christ Church in the Historic Pensacola Village. The Runge Strings Orchestra will perform selections from their spring concert. Free.

April 18

UWF Singers Annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Hall. The program will include a performance of Mozart’s “Requiem” accompanied by the Runge Strings Orchestra and organ. The show will feature the UWF Madrigals and UWF Show Choir. Free.

April 22

Symphonic Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the UWF Mainstage Theatre. The band will perform pieces based on J.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” by Johan de Meij. The concert will also feature several band works based on great works of literature including “Moby Dick,” “Othello” and “The Divine Comedy.” Free.
