Tourist season is heating up
The aroma of coconut tanning oil is the first indication of Spring in these parts ...
Tens of thousands of beachgoers oiled up and brought their blankets and radios to the sugar white beaches of Northwest Florida in March and more are headed back this month for Spring Break.
Locals are benefitting from the warm, sunny weather and becoming friends again with the sea water that invaded their homes and neighborhoods last September when the unwelcome visitor, Hurricane Ivan, came to town.
We forgive the ocean for rising up against us. We embrace the watersports such as fishing, boating, swimming, and surfing that the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. We relax to the view of the sun sinking into the horizon, reassuring us that all is well.
And now, spring fever is upon us ... time for the birds and the bees. Read all about a local beekeeper who’s promoting his craft in this issue of Splash. You may decide to take up this fascinating hobby yourself!
There’s also lots of opportunities to visit museums, the theatre and live concerts including the legendary James Taylor and the hilarious “Larry the Cable Guy.”
You can take in a hard-hitting football game this spring with one exciting difference: all the players are women. Look at our feature on the Pensacola Power in this issue of Splash.
We also salute planet earth this month with a festival centered around taking care of our environment. Look inside for a feature on the Earth Day 2005 festivities.
And, almost everyone knows someone who’s experienced cancer. A fun way to fight cancer is through the many Relay for Life events kicking off in our area this month.
Live music reviewer Nick Rupert also fills us in on the musical stylings available in the Gutter lounge, a nightclub located inside a bowling alley.
