Dance to honor Korean War vets with memorial
The Pensacola Korean War Memorial Campaign and the Korean War Veterans Association are planning a dinner dance with silent auction in honor of the men and women who served in America’s “Forgotten War.” The gala event will be a fitting tribute to the men and women who served in the Korean War.
The evening will include music and songs of the ‘40s and ‘50s provided by the White Sands Orchestra and an auction featuring a three-day cruise for two aboard the New Orleans-based Delta Queen; resort hotel rooms near Disney World, a weekend for two at Seaside Resort near Panama City; dinner for four at several local restaurants, works of art by regional artists, an autographed poster depicting the Grumman A5 as seen in the movie version of Steve Coonts’ best selling novel, “Flight of the Intruder.”
With the scheduled June 25 dedication the Korean War will become a “War Remembered.”
TV personality Sue Straughn will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the 7 p.m., April 8 event at New World Landing.
For reservations call (850) 429-8403. Tickets are $50 per person.
