Auditions for 'Peter Pan' June 7, 9 The B.E.T.A. Children's Theatre will be holding Auditions for "Peter Pan" as part of their Summer Rehearsal and Production Camp Tuesday, June 7 and Thursday, June 9.

The camp times are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-Noon with a lunch bunch option till 1:00. This production is open to children between the ages of 6 to 14. No experience is necessary to participate in this musical theatre fun. Students will receive training in voice, acting and dance and should wear comfortable attire and dance or tennis shoes.

The camp and rehearsals will be held at the B.E.T.A.

Building which is located at 913 Gulf Breeze Pkwy Unit #23 at the Harbourtown Business Complex directly next to Billy Bob's Bar-B-Que on Hwy 98. Peter Pan and Captain Hook face off for three weekends in September.

'Art of Opera' on display at Artel Artel Gallery and Pensacola Opera will present "Dramatica: The Art of Opera," a juried exhibit, through June 22. The exhibit explores operatic characters, scenes and operatic themes, such as power, love, desire, passion, revenge, etc., and features work in a variety of media. The exhibit was juried by Lee Courtney.

The joint fundraiser will culminate in a gala evening reception at 6 p.m. on June 24, with catering by Varona's, music and a silent auction of all works in the exhibit, plus additional special auction items.

This is a unique opportunity for opera lovers to collect art depicting their favorite operas.

Reservations for the June 24 reception may be made by calling Pensacola Opera at 850 433-6737. Tickets are $25 per person.

The public may preview the exhibit by visiting Artel at 505 South Adams Street near Seville Square. Artel is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call the gallery at 850 432-3080.

O'Neill baseball exhibit moving to Pelican Park The Pelicans announced today the Buck O'Neill traveling exhibit is on public display at the T.T. Wentworth Museum located at 330 Jefferson St in downtown Pensacola until Monday, June 6 when it will then be moved to Pelican Park for the Pelicans Tribute to Negro League Baseball on Sunday, June 19.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

O'Neill, who became famous with the Kansas City Monarchs, will be present at the game on June 19 to speak to the fans and sign Monarch replica hats, baseballs stamped with his likeness as well as his book throughout the game.

The first African-American coach in Major League Baseball, O'Neill joined the Chicago Cubs in 1962. Today, he chairs the Negro league Baseball Museum Board of Directors and serves on the Veterans' Committee of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Commemoration is scheduled for Sunday, June 19 at 6:05 p.m. when the Pelicans face the Coastal Bend Avaitors. This event is in accordance with "Juneteenth," the oldest recognized worldwide celebration of the abolition of slavery in America.
