Learn Venetian glassblowing this month at Belmont Arts The Belmont Arts and Cultural Center will offer a series of glass blowing workshops each week in June.
Each class, taught by Luke Jacomb and Ben Sharp, will offer an introduction to Venetian g l a s s b l o w i n g techniques.
Beginning June 9, the workshops will run each Thursday, Friday and Saturday in June, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Belmont Arts and Cultural Center, 401 North Reus St., located inside the window factory in Downtown Pensacola. The cost is $150 per three-hour workshop.
The course will provide a firm foundation in the basic movements of Venetian s t y l e glassblowing.
Some focal e l e m e n t s include the making of well formed and thinly blown vessel b o d i e s excellent necks, d e l i c a t e mereses, and blown feet and stems. After mastering these techniques, the production of canes and the study of the caneworking processes will follow.
A showing of all the participants works will be on display at the end of the month at the Belmont Arts Center.
