Enjoy some R & R in your own

It seems impossible that our communities have endured two hurricanes, three tropical storms and several "Hundred Year Floods" in less than one year! These incidents sound like overwhelming obstacles, but they really afford us an amazing opportunity to rally together and heal ourselves by supporting each other.

We as a community have an opportunity to visit and patronize our local businesses who have suffered so much this year due to hurricanes, storms and record flooding. Let's dedicate one night during each week to eat out at local restaurants - we will be blessing ourselves and our local merchants. Why not put aside at least one weekend this months to slow down and enjoy our awesome Gulf Coast lifestyle? Hit the area's pristine beaches, enjoy some local entertainment and shop 'til you drop! Supporting our local economy is also a way to allow ourselves to heal. Who doesn't love eating out and chilling now and then? Ask any woman and she will tell you that shopping is a great way pamper yourself - second only to chocolate.

Take time to support the companies you see supporting local media to advertise their promotions. Your community papers and small businesses need to know you support them, too. Tell the advertisers in Splash! that you appreciate them helping us publish a fun, family-friendly positive publication about our area.

Do you remember the slogan "build it and they will come?" Well, I think a smile is the most infectious thing in the world - enjoy it and they will come. Doubters who maintain that our area cannot possibly recover and rebuild even stronger will wonder what you have found to be so happy about! Just tell them you are glad to live in paradise!

Local businesses and communities have a vested interest in supporting one another. A community who works together will play together -- so enjoy!
