Grammy winning tenor Jerry Hadley Performs September 24
Internationally acclaimed and three time Grammy Award winning tenor, Jerry Hadley, announced from Paris that he will be singing in a benefit concert for Rebuild Northwest Florida on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Pensacola’s Saenger Theater. Proceeds from each ticket sold will be given to Rebuild Northwest Florida.
Renowned American tenor, Jerry Hadley, is taking time in his schedule of international performances to make this special appearance in Pensacola with the Gulf Coast Chorale and orchestra under the baton of Michael Richardson at the Pensacola Saenger Theatre.
Hadley, who is in Paris appearing with the Paris Opera in two productions, recently said by telephone: “I have been made aware of the terrible devastation which happened on the north Gulf Coast from Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, and would like to do my part toward the rebuilding effort. My long time friend and musical colleague Michael Richardson, has invited me to sing with The Gulf Coast Chorale, and I’m delighted to be able to do so, especially if we can help raise funds for Rebuild Northwest Florida.”
Hadley’s professional career began with his operatic debut with the New York City Opera in 1982, and received a great push when he was taken under the wing of the great conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein, whom Hadley considers his musical mentor. Jerry Hadley has been among the top American Operatic tenors for the past 20 years and performs regularly at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as many of the world’s bestknown opera houses.
Hadley will be joined by the 100 voices of The Gulf Coast Chorale and a 36 member orchestra in a concert ranging from operatic arias and choruses to operetta to musical theater. The concert will include selections from “West Side Story,” “The Student Prince,” “The Tender Land,” “Tosca,” “Nabucco,” “Madama Butterfly,” “Eugen Onegin” and “The Elixir of Love.” Also included will be the premier performances of the orchestration of Hadley’s arrangement of “Amazing Grace,” and an original composition “You Shall Have A Song” for tenor, chorus and orchestra by Richardson, the Artistic Director and Conductor of the chorale.
