The air chills, and the outdoors beckons
Halloween is over and we’re beginning to
plan our Thanksgiving dinner.
Family and friends usually contribute something to our meal, putting a bit of their personality into the meal and alleviating the burden on the host.
First, we’ll visit the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival to pick up some beautiful art to decorate our homes for fall and holiday celebrations.
The wonderful weather is part of the attraction for the event, which was canceled last year due to Hurricane Ivan. This year’s event is much anticipated and probably will draw large crowds.
Besides the gorgeous art, I always enjoy the music, food and the chance to bump into old friends.
Walt Wooten of PJC reminds us that the fun won’t stop after the sun goes down. Mars is making a pass close to earth and providing a spectacular reason the stare at the stars.
Josh Kinser offers some wonderful outdoor hiking opportunities on local trails, and Mark Clabaugh reassures us that fishing is ongoing in the fall, possibly even better than we saw it in the summer because of the tropical storm interruptions.
Perhaps you’ve already started your holiday shopping, but we love the crush of people out at dark-thirty on the day after Thanksgivng. It makes the holiday shopping season seem more like a race, and you can pick up some bargains, too.
Remember to visit your local shops and attractions during the holiday season. Our local economy depends on everyone helping each other out.
And on that note, we appreciate the fact that you are reading Splash. Give us a call or drop us a line if you want to discuss something you saw on these pages, or if there’s something you didn’t see.
Happy Thanksgiving! Lisa and Vici
