This month, gaze at red planet
Mars dominates sky

With Mars dominating the northeastern sky as the Sun sets currently, members of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers plan to host several public star gazes in the next several weeks for those interested in our closest view of the Red Planet until 2018. Wednesday, Nov. 2: Mars watch outside the PJC planetarium...now the crescent moon is also visible. 9-10 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 4: Hurlburt Field Star Gaze, contact Dennis Hausch at 678-1597 in Ft. Walton Beach area. Crescent Moon, Venus, and Mercury are added attractions in the western twilight sky.

Sunday, Nov. 6.: Johnson Beach, Perdido Key, (5 to 10 p.m.) Good dark sky site, crescent moon also.

Wednesday, Nov. 9: Mars/Moon watch outside PJC planetarium, 9-10 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 6 Mars/Moon gaze at Henderson State Park for the Destin Elementary School; the park service has waived all fees for this gaze. Henderson State Park is east of Destin on Highway 98., 6:30 p.m.

Monday, Nov 7: Girl Scout Troop 15 at Cordova Park Elementary School at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 12: Johnson Beach, Perdido Key, (5 to 10 p.m.)
