Milton celebrates holidays with Oak Street Christmas Fest

In December 2004, friends of the arts, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, and the Milton Clubhouse Trustees (the GFWC Milton Woman’s Club and Milton Shakespeare Club) sponsored the Oak Street Christmas Art Show. It was a way to assist those artists who had been hit hard by the cancellation of numerous art and craft shows following hurricane Ivan, as well as personal loses felt by many of those who chose to participate in the event.By popular demand, both from the artists and the sponsors, the show returns December 8-11 as the Oak Street Christmas Fest. It will kick off on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. with a holiday concert and caroling event in the street in front of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and Parish Hall. Arts, crafts, food and entertainment will fill the grounds outside both the Parish Hall and the Milton Clubhouse, as well as inside each building, on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. The show will be held on Oak Street (located one block south of Highway 90) between Escambia and Elmira Streets in historic downtown Milton, Florida.Cecile Stephens and Paula Lou Mapoles are cochairing the event again this year.
