SSpring fever is hot!
Spring fever is hot! No matter how much we may enjoy winter's respite,
it is so wonderful to feel the first kiss of the sun as spring and summer return to our Gulf Coast!
I can remember as a teenager heading over to Pensacola Beach in March to sunbathe between the dunes where the fierce winds would be blocked and sun could penetrate the remains of winter. The thought of waiting until it was actually warm enough outside to hit the beach was a foreign one we knew that the sun was warm and we wanted to be in it. As our skin warmed, and the smell of the damp sand enveloped us, we felt truly transported to summer, reawakened after winter's lull.
Though it seemed our beloved Gulf Coast area would never truly "recover," Lisa has a wonderful update on page 9 of this issue of Splash! Magazine about how Pensacola Beach is readying for Spring Break. Such challenges as strorms following storms, insurance companies which would not pay, long lines for debris removal services and even longer lines for pile driving services caused long delays. But the beach is really starting to look like a beach again, and the amount of new construction seems to outweigh the lingering properties in disrepair. And even after all we've endured, there is truly not a more amazing sight than our crystalline blue waters and sugar white sands.
Even if March blows in like a lion before it flees like a lamb, there is always something to do. Give in to your spring fever, feel the sun, stroll the beach and fall in love all over again with Northwest Florida!
