Ben Affleck as Superman? Evelyn Green
 | | Jill Hennessy |
| Q: Please explain how Ben Affleck suddenly got cast as Superman in the new Superman movie. -Joseph McM.
A: Ben Affleck's Superman film isn't part of the successful "Superman" franchise that started with the late Christopher Reeve in the role of the Man of Steel.
Affleck's flick is about the mysterious death of actor George Reeves, who played Superman on television in the 1950s. Although ruled a homicide, George Reeves' family and friends have long insisted it was murder.
Affleck had called his movie "Truth, Justice, And the American Way." But the "Superman" movie people objected, and it will now be called "Hollywoodland."

Q: My son, who lives in Europe, once worked with Christopher Penn, and he asked me to find out how Christopher died. -Helen M.
A: According to the Los Angeles medical examiner's office, Chris Penn died in January of a combination of a condition called
or enlarged heart -along with reactions to several prescription drugs, including codeine.
Chris Penn was the brother of actor Sean Penn and musician Michael Penn. Although he was, perhaps, best known for his role in "Reservoir Dogs," he made a number of films including the upcoming "King of Sorrow," "Starsky & Hutch" and "The Funeral," for which he won the Volpi Award at the 1998 Venice Film Festival.
