Artel Gallery wraps up Xavier Cortada show March 24

"Mangroves," a solo show by Xavier Cortada, renowned Cuban-American artist, activist and attorney will run through March 24 at Artel Gallery in Pensacola.

The renowned CubanAmerican Artist opened the show in February at Artel. Cortada has shown his works in museums, galleries and cultural venues around the world and has pioneered the use of the internet in collaborative art making.

Cortada's "Mangroves" collection was previously on display at the Florida State Capitol.

Cortada was born in Albany, New York in 1964 and was raised in Miami. He holds three degrees from the University of Miami - a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor. In February 2000, Cortada was invited by the Holy See to participate in the Vatican's Jubilee Day for Artists and meet Pope John Paul II.

Artel is the only nonprofit, all-volunteer experimental art gallery serving Northwest Florida.

The gallery is located at 505 South Adams Street in Pensacola. Open 10:00am 4:00 pm Tuesday Saturday. Call 850-432-3080 for more information about Artel Gallery or the Xavier Cortada exhibit.
