There's plenty of fun to be had in March in the 'Great Outdoors'
Heads up for the 18th annual Forestry Conclave and Lumberjack Festival March 4

Timber!

It's time for the 18th annual Forestry Conclave and Lumberjack Festival at the Pensacola Junior College Milton campus.

Join the lumberjack and forestry festivities Saturday, March 4. The day kicks off with a free flapjack breakfast from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Get free tree seedlings while they last, and then compete for ribbons and prizes by competing in the various lumberjack games from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adult events include knife and ax throwing, pole felling, tree tossing, the Jack-and-Jill crosscut, compass and pacing, and more. Kids' activities include log rolling, softball toss, crafts, games and face painting. Competitors pay $3 for the first event and $1 for each additional event. Children, high school students and senior citizens compete free. Get into the spirit with the Gulf Coast Bluegrass Music A s s o c i a t i o n ' entertainers and live coverage by radio stations WXBM 102.7 and TK 101.

E n j o y demonstrations such as Andy Cummings' chainsaw sculpturing and displays by the Florida Cutups Woodcarving Club, Florida Division of Forestry, Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission, Project Green Shores, the Yellow River Aquatic Preserves, the Francis M. Weston Audubon Chapter, and many other organizations. Learn about the environmental degree programs offered by PJC and the University of Florida.
