Spring fever is hot!
It's the month of festivals! The April weather is perfect for
celebrations of every sort ... especially those involving the bountiful food available to us, music to sway along to and a chance to view the artistic talents of our neighbors. Festival on the Green (March 30-April 1) showcases art and the beautiful UWF campus. The Emerald Coast Flower and Garden festival is the same weekend at PJC's Milton campus. GraceFest (April 7-8) is a wonderful family celebration centered around Christian music of all beats and generations. The Baytowne Boat Fest at Sandestin is April 22. The Crawfish Festival (April 28-30) gives us an opportunity to listen to Zydeco music while enjoying the tasty, spicy "mud bugs."
It's also time to dress up in our finery, to become new again in celebration of Easter, which comes on April 16 this year. Easter is a time to be with family, enjoy an outdoor egg hunt and indulge in the waxy chocolate eggs and marshmallow peeps.
April also marks the start of Snapper season, a time that most local fishermen begin to point their boats south through the Pensacola pass in search of the area's most famous fish. Mark Clabaugh will tell you everything you need to know to track down this delicacy and then prepare it for dinner.
Beach weather is coming and so is summer reading. Elisabeth Doehring, Splash's book editor, tells of a particularly interesting read you won't want to miss.
There are so many opportunities to enjoy Northwest Florida this month, so keep the Splash calendar handy so you don't miss a thing. Vici and Lisa
