UWF Festival on the Green March 31 and April 1 The University's Festival on the Green promises to be an entertaining extravaganza with plenty of activities for everyone. Fine artists from our region will display and sell their artwork. The juried show features painting, jewelry, pottery, glass and other media.

Chat with the artists as you shop at their displays set along a sidewalk boulevard lined with Magnolia trees, Friday, 10 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. 5 p.m. Browse through a diverse assortment of crafts produced, exhibited and sold by regional crafters. You will find ceramics, wood, fiber, jewelry, toys, and clothing.

The festival will also feature several regional performing acts including a showcase of talent from the UWF Music & Theatre Departments including the UWF Jazz Band, UWF Theatre Department, UWF Symphonic Band Belmont Youth Band, professional acts like Cadillac Attack, Englewood Drumming Tigers, Loggerhead Flute Circle, Miguel Aldahondo, Mithril, Pendleton Jazz Duo, Sojourn Project, and Touch of Gray.

Non musical highlights of the event include crafts, games, space walks, a visit from the Fire Department and Police Department and so much more. Obviously, no festival would be complete without delicious food to tempt your palate. German, Seafood, Cajun, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Oriental, and Caribbean are just a few examples of the varied cuisines available. As if that weren't enough, you can also watch nimble pooches strut their stuff as they jump through hoops, square dance and run obstacle courses.

For the World of Warcraft nerd in all of us, there will also be sword fights, heraldry, armor, and period crafts straight out of the middle ages. Early Saturday morning, UWF alumni will be honored at the Alumni Jazz Brunch & Awards Celebration at 9:30 a.m. in the UWF conference center.
