PMA showcases 'Annie Lebovitz: Women' May 6
Opening Reception Friday, May 7-9 p.m.

Annie Leibovitz's portraits have been appearing in magazines for over twenty-five years. She started work as a photographer for Rolling Stone magazine and works for Vanity Fair and Vogue. Two of Leibovitz's photographs, John Lennon and Yoko Ono (Rolling Stone) and Demi Moore (Vanity Fair), were chosen as the first and second place in the top magazine covers of the last forty years.

In 1999,the Corcoran Gallery of Art presented the exhibition Women, a celebration of the American woman at the dawn of a new millennium. Included are portraits of : an astronaut, scientists, farmers, musicians, showgirls, actresses, writers, athletes and political figures. Women who are well known are juxtaposed with unknown women whose sole notoriety is their impact on the lives of those around them.

The Pensacola Museum of Art is proud to present "Annie Leibovitz: Women" as a key exhibition in our Spring schedule.

This collection of largerthan life photos from the w o r l d r e n o w n e d photographer, Annie Leibovitz, offers museum visitors striking images of women from a broad spectrum of society, including actresses, astronauts, athletes, farmers, musicians, showgirls, and political figures.

According to Leibovitz, the images are an assemblage of women who have helped shape history and who continue to pioneer towards the future. The portraits vary in style, ranging from classic to the provocative.
