May is a wonderful, spicy month May is the month to celebrate friends, food (mostly spicy) and
fun and there is more than enough to do just check out Splash! magazine for the details!
May starts with the hot flavors and cool fun of Cinco de Mayo. With the increased interest in ad sales, there was no room for our requisite recipe, so check the web at www.Spalshpensacolabeach.com for our posted Mexican fare, Janet Jackson's Easy & Spicy Turkey Enchilada Casserole. In the spirit of all things festive, you will find Mark Clabaugh's monthly fish recipe this time with the tang of Mango, a touch of Latin America!
At the month's end, while you are enjoying Memorial Day's celebration of the freedom we enjoy thanks to those who've served, pause to reflect. Before your family
gathering or boat trip to the beaches, remember what Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, was designed to mark sacrifice.
There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, and over two dozen cities and towns lay claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War, and many historians agree the South could very well be the birthplace of Memorial Day.
In the Southern tradition of celebration and remembrance, stop and think of those who have afforded us our freedoms; gather with your friends or family and savor the togetherness other's sacrifices have provided.
