Pensacola Children's Chorus presents Showtime May 5,6
The Pensacola Children's Chorus presents "Showtime 2006" on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Saenger Theatre.
"Showtime 2006" is a fullystaged production featuring the singing, dancing and acting talents of over 300 performers, ages 8-18.
This year's theme is "The Rhythm of Broadway" and will include a tribute to great writers of the American theater such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Bernstein, Sondheim and Schwartz; and also influential early writers such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Cole Porter.
"Showtime 2006" will also feature songs about pirates, dogs and cats, and New Orleans Mardi Gras; as well as a rollicking segment titled "American Pop" and another highlighting the music of the musical "Newsies"
Directed by Allen and Susan Pote, "Showtime 2006" features colorful costumes designed by LaRaye Ryan, choreography by Debbie Denes and Michael Dennis, staging by Donna Mixon, and lighting by Mario Cieri.
