Gallery Walk First annual Bagdad Village Art Stroll features history, arts
 | | The New Providence Missionary Baptist Church on Church Street currently houses the Bagdad Village Museum and Gift Shop. |
| Head north to the first annual Bagdad Village Art Stroll from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, in the picturesque waterfront village of Bagdad.
Participating artists and performers will display, sell and perform their work on the front porches of dozens of historic homes throughout the village. Artists will also be able to display work on the front lawns of homes under the shade of moss-draped sprawling live oaks. A walking tour of the village will begin at 1 p.m.
Once a bustling lumber mill village, Bagdad was the center of the Southeastern lumber industry for more than 110 years before closing in 1939. At one time Bagdad was the biggest, most modern lumber exporter in the western world. Bagdad was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
Hosted by the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation and the Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership, the Bagdad Village Art Stroll is the first in a series of community gallery opportunities in lieu of traditional gallery nights in the historic business district of downtown Milton. The Arts and Culture Foundation is working to promote community artists, performers, writers, and cultural organizations' involvement throughout the county.
The Arts and C u l t u r e F o u n d a t i o n provides several venues for local artists to showcase their work and the Bagdad Village Art Stroll will provide an e x c e l l e n t opportunity for artisans to interact with visitors and
community art supporters. For more infor-mation, contact the Dragonfly Gallery at (850) 9811100 or email info@SantaRosaArts.org.
