There's too much fun to be had... There's no way I'm staying home this summer! I have been having so much
fun revisiting my Northwest Florida trekking all the way from Pensacola to Destin. We may have spent the last two years recovering from hurricanes, but now we're ready to enjoy our glorious Gulf Coast!
Our Splash! magazine cover this month represents all the wonderful activities available: shopping, splashing, sunning, swimming, the amazing Blue Angels Airshow and Independence Day celebrations.
We are happy to dispel the rumors of a closing at Big Kahuna's Water Park in Destin the park is open and staying that way. Park sources say there are more than 20 years left on their lease, and the popular water park is here for the long run. The newly-opened water park at Sam's Fun City has been well-received as well, so check it out!
Every day options abound for fun my personal long-time favorite is the Naval Museum of Aviation, complete with the atrium display of the aerobatic team we all love, the Blue Angels. Don't forget to plan some time for the IMAX museum and the motion-based simulator rides, you can spend an entire day and not run out of things to do. The museum is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and if you are lucky, you can also catch a Blue Angel practice session while you are there.
Speaking of the Blue Angels, you absolutely must mark your calendar and park your car for at least one day of the 'Red, White and Blues' airshow July 12-15. The practice shows are as exhilarating as the real thing! There is truly nothing in the world like the roar of those engines screaming low over Pensacola Beach...
Though Independence Day falls on a Tuesday this year, there are some fun celebrations checkout page 15 and the Splash! calendar for details. See you around there's too much fun to be had to stay at home!
