Summer's not over yet . . . Summer is not over yet! we know, we know, most of the area schools will be
back in session long before the middle of the month, but we refuse to let go of summer. We've still got our weekends... There is still so much to do along the Emerald Coast.
Blues on the Beach is still red hot as local venues entertain hundreds of music lovers at the Gulfside pavilion on Pensacola Beach. Heading East, Baytowne Wharf holds concerts every Wednesday. An event possibly hotter than the triple-digit temperatures is the North Florida Region Porsche Club's first annual Charity Car Show August 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event are to benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
Heading further east is our featured day-trip to Apalachicola where visitors can experience the pristine area with eco-tours and learn about the rich history of the bay area.
We're excited to report that Gulf Breeze's Abigail Spencer has recently landed a lead role on a new original Lifetime series, "Angela's Eyes." After graduating Gulf Breeze High School in 1999, Spencer has appeared on "All My Children," "Gilmore Girls" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."We're proud of our hometown celebrity.
Over in our neck of the woods, Ba'nana Republic, Bamboo Willie's house band, is still enthralling audiences with their fresh and entertaining performances at one of Pensacola Beach's premier beach bars. Ft. Pickens has announced its temporary closure of its visitor center and Mark Clabaugh is still catching those fish!
Just because the kids are trading in their bathing suits for backpacks, there are still so many things to do along our beautiful Emerald Coast, many of which can be done as a day trip.
Have a great rest of the summer! Stay cool even with all the hot things to do.
