August air fills with music from the sacred to divine
Baytowne Wharf concerts every Wednesday in

August

Wednesday Night Concert Series Continues in August at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Experience the vitality of a live show, the groove and feeling of the blues mixed with individual rhythms and interpretations of select bands. The Village of Baytowne Wharf 's Wednesday Night Concert Series continues this August with a line up featuring oozing blues and dripping funk from 7-9 p.m. each Wednesday at the Events Plaza.

Performers include: Roger "Hurricane" Wilson Aug. 2, Ken Will Morton Aug. 9, Bryan Lee Aug. 16, Mem Shannon & The Membership Aug. 23, Anthony Gomes Aug. 30

Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the free evening concerts under the stars.

Canticle will perform several sacred favorites as well as original pieces selected for their unique instrumentation. The concert will showcase the sounds of handbells, harp, flute, voice and piano. Canticle is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides live music, at no charge, to those in our community who are in retirement homes, nursing homes, and the Covenant Hospice residence home and palliative care centers. Expo Latino at the Pensacola Fairgrounds Aug. 5

Hispanics now make up one in seven people in the United States, recently bringing an unprecedented (estimate of) 40,000 Hispanics in the Florida Panhandle. On Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Pensacola Fairgrounds will host Expo Latino, an annual event that celebrates heritage, tradition and culture of Hispanics of people of all 21 Spanish-speaking countries and Brazil with music, food and presentations. Admoission is free and the Expo gives business an opportunity to speak one-onone with the Latino market to explain services, products and job availabilities. Fiesta Barbershop Chorus
JazzFest goes on Aug. 12

Three Hours, Three Rooms. Three Styles. Simultaneous Jazz. In Lili Marlene's Crystal Joy Albert sings and plays sophisticated jazz. Roger Villines and friends perform "Trumpets in Time" in Apple Annie's. Joel Occhipinti's Big Band plays music for dancing and listening in Phineas Phogg's with an appearance from the Swing Kids. This is a fundraiser. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and are available at Jazz Office, Seville Quarter, Dollarhide's Music and Sound, and Reynald's Music House

All proceeds go toward expenses of JazzFest, a two day FREE spring concert in Seville Square (March 31April 1, 2007).

Pensacola Children's Chorus and the Fiesta Barbershop Chorus at Olde Seville Square on Aug. 10

An evening full of delightful vocal music awaits concertgoers at Evenings in Olde Seville Square from 79:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10. Opening the evening will be the Fiesta Barbershop Chorus, followed with the energetic singing, dancing and fabulous entertainment of the Pensacola Children's Chorus.

The Fiesta Barbershop Chorus, the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, has brought musical harmony to the area for 48 years

The Pensacola Children's Chorus will bring numbers from their vibrant and highly entertaining 2006 Showtime production "The Rhythm of Broadway" as well as other pieces from the last season to the Seville Square Gazebo.

When attending concerts, bring a lawn chair or a blanket for seating.
