Quayside offers 'Collected Works,' welcomes Russian artist

Flamingo courtship, Patricia Burney
The third collaboration by these innovative, award winning artists, Collected Works is a visual journey of art glass and paintings, for the casual or serious collector. Color and whimsey set the tone.

Such titles as "Goodie Two Shoes", " P o c k ' a B o o k , " "Intersection," "Flamingo Courtship," and "Road to La Luz," are just a sampling. "Peace," an evocative work, is the only artwork that alludes to a serious viewpoint.

The show may be viewed at Quayside art Gallery, September 3-10, with a meet the artists reception on Friday, September 8, from 6-8 p.m.

Quayside is also now featuring the works of an international member. A Russian watercolor artist has joined this group of over 100 local artists, adding a bit of intrigue and foreign flavor to this mixture of talent.

A recognized artist in the Ukraine and Russia, Konstantyn Sylin has painted on location in Germany, Finland, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and the United States of America, enjoying personal exhibitions in each of these locations, as well as in Ukraine, Russia, Italy, France and Japan . A large album of his "Gerlitz Architectural Landscapes" was published in Germany in 1996.

'August in the City,' Patricia Burney
Konstantyn Sylin speaks no English, so he is accompanied by his wife, Lyudmyla, who serves as his interpreter each Tuesday from 1:30-5 p.m. as a desk worker. Visit his exquisite watercolors and meet him and his wife personally. The United States, in

2002, acknowledged his achievements with shows, "The Holy Russia," at the Loveland, Colorado museum, "Sylin Watercolor Wonders" at the Canyon Art Gallery, in Denver and a Solo exhibition at the University of South Alabama through August 24.

His watercolors are in prestigious public and private collections in the Ukraine, Russia, European countries, the United States and Japan. In Pensacola, he received the Cinco Banderas 2004 purchase award for his marine watercolor, "The Black Sea Beach."
Quayside features the art work of artist Donna Freckman.
