Jonathan Antin is a real 'Blow Out' pro
by Evelyn Green

Q: What is Mr. T doing? I watch "The A-Team" in syndication and was wondering what he's been up to. - Wendy B., via e-mail

A: Laurence Tureaud, aka Mr. T, is well-known for his roles as B.J. Baracas on "The A-Team" and Clubber Lang from "Rocky III," but he is perhaps most recognized as the man with the Mohawk and tons of gold jewelry hanging around his neck. In his younger years, Mr. T, now 54, played for the Green Bay Packers before suffering a knee injury. He was also a bodyguard to such stars as Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Steve McQueen.

In 1995, he was diagnosed with and defeated T-cell lymphoma cancer. In October 2006, TV Land will premiere his new show "I Pity the Fool," where Mr. T travels across the country dispensing inspiration and advice.

Q: I have been watching "Blow Out" on Bravo. Is Jonathan Antin a professional hairstylist or is he a professional actor playing the part of a hairstylist? - Don Z., via e-mail

A: Jonathan Antin, 39, is indeed a professional hairstylist who's long been a coiffeur to the stars. Season One of "Blow Out" saw Jonathan opening his second salon, Jonathan Salon Beverly Hills, while Season Two (which began in the summer) chronicles the launching his line of hair-care products, Jonathan Product. While still a teenager, Jonathan was inspired by Warren Beatty's character in "Shampoo" and dropped out of Beverly Hills High School to attend Fairfax Beauty Academy. Jonathan and fiancee Sescie recently welcomed a son, Asher Jones Antin, who was born Jan. 6, 2006.

Q: I first saw Mandy Patinkin as Satan on "Touched by an Angel," as well as in those prescription-drug commercials and "Criminal Minds." What can you tell me about him? - Pat H., Mount Morris, Ill.

A: Mandel Bruce Patinkin, 53, got his first big break when he played Che in "Evita" on Broadway in 1979. A renowned tenor, Patinkin also got to show off his acting and singing chops in the movies "Yentl," "Dick Tracy" and "Ragtime." He also has released numerous albums. Patinkin won an Emmy Award as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on "Chicago Hope." But for me, he is and always will be most famous for portraying Inigo Montoya in "The Princess Bride" and uttering these now-famous lines: "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Q: I was shocked to hear that actor Chris Penn died fairly recently. How did he die and how old was he? - Maria F., Cape Coral, Fla.

A: Chris Penn, 40, brother to Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn and musician Michael Penn, passed away in January. An autopsy found that the primary cause of death was "nonspecific cardiomyopathy" (heart disease), with the prescription drug promethazine with codeine playing a lesser role. Penn's final movie is the 2007 release "Aftermath," which also stars Tony Danza and Anthony Michael Hall.
