Destin Photo contest tells a wonderful story of Destin, Florida's beauty
"Hermit-crabbing" and diving for sand dollars are just two of the pastimes featured in recent entries to the 2006 Destin Area Summer Photo Contest. Others include a family gathered for an Easter sunrise service on the beach, rainbows stretched over the Gulf and harbor, a cat checking a fisherman's cooler for a fishy snack, and the expression on a little girl's face while holding her first fish.
Since June 29, when the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce launched its 2006 Destin Area Summer Photo contest at www.DestinChamber.com, website visitors have submitted almost 80 photos, illustrating the myriad of reasons they love the Destin area. The photos tell a wonderful story of family traditions in Destin, kids discovering the joy of the Gulf and all its treasures, and the active harbor docks of the world's luckiest fishing village.
It is not too late for others to share photos showing why they love the Destin area. Whether you visited for a
family vacation, a romantic weekend, an afternoon picnic, or you reside here year round, all are invited to submit photos.
Photos will be divided into three categories for judging, including Best Family Photo, Best Beach Photo, and Best Harbor Photo. An overall winner will also be chosen. Winners will receive a Destin prize package, filled with goodies from the area, and will be featured prominently in our 2007 membership directory and on our website. The Destin Area Chamber Board of Directors and staff will chose the winners.
