Motorcycle ride and concert for child's benefit

On Sept. 16, the Sugarbear Foundation will conduct its second charity fundraiser the "Ride for Sugarbear II - Hope4Ethan" motorcycle ride.

Bikers will ride from the corner of Pace and Palafox streets in Pensacola north on U.S. 29 to Molino Ball Park. Once at the park, organizers will raffle various motorcycle accessories and entertainment will include music from bands One Day Remains and Malpractice.

All proceeds from the organized tour and food sales will benefit Ethan Bergeron of Molino, Fla., an infant born with multiple health problems in need of a kidney transplant.

"We think he has thyroid problems and doctors are giving him hormone injections to help him grow. Those hormone treatments can cost $5,000 to $20,000 a month," said Bruce Myrick, one of the event's organizers. Myrick helped put together the Sugarbear Foundation after learning his daughter Laura needed a lung transplant. Last year the event hosted approximately 300 people and raised over $6,000. Unfortunately, 14- year-old Laura passed away before an organ donor became available.

"This is a time of reverence and hope," Myrick said. "We're hoping to ease our pain by helping somebody else."

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at 4317 North Palafox and the ride begins at 12 p.m. For more information visit www.hope4ethan.com.
