 | | "As an actress, singer and comedienne...Bernadette Peters has no peer in the musical theatre..." - New York Times |
| 'Bernadette Peters - A Journey Through Broadway' will be the debut performance by Sinfonia Gulf Coast at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on September 23 in Ft. Walton Beach at 8 p.m.
Headline guest artist Bernadette Peters is a seven-time nominated and two-time Tony Award-winning actress, movie star and singer. Bernadette Peters is widely acclaimed as the finest singing actress on the scene today. She was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame in 1996 and is the youngest inductee in its history.
Ms. Peters' first Tony for best actress was in 1986 for the lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Song & Dance.' The second Tony was for her lead role in 1999 as Annie Oakley in Irving Berlin's 'Annie Get Your Gun.' Talkin' Broadway Reviews said of her Annie role, "Any appearance by Bernadette Peters in a musical is just cause for popping open bottles of the best champagne and dancing in the streets."
In 2003, she received her seventh Tony Award nomination for her electrifying portrayal of Momma Rose in Sam Mendes' recordbreaking Broadway revival of 'Gypsy'. Her brilliant performance was captured on the Grammy award-winning 'Gypsy' cast recording.
