 | | BJ Davis/Splash! Magazine The Greenery does a brisk business for lunch, where salads, sandwiches and soups are popular fare. The restaurant also serves breakfast daily beginning at 7 a.m. offering eggs benedict, elegant French toast and more. At night, the restaurant competes with the finest restaurants around, serving coastal favorites as well as German entrees. |
| When there's a nip in the air, comfort food, or the food of our childhood, begins to call to us.
Many of us recall the German specialties of our parents or grandparents, from Weiner Schnitzel to Spaetzel. Others became acquainted with German food from traveling overseas and attending the traditional Oktoberfest, featuring Bratwurst and of course, plenty of German beer.
No matter what the season, you can find German-style entrees at The Greenery Café in Gulf Breeze. Located in the Gulf Breeze Shopping Center near Bruno's (348 Gulf Breeze Parkway), The Greenery owners Ed and Marita Schroeder prepare German favorites daily, including Pork and Veal Schnitzel, Rinder Rouladen, Schweinbraten and Sauerbraten. Entrees are accompanied by Spaetzel, Red Cabbage or German potato salad, and they even offer Potato Pancakes.

| "I don't know of any other restaurant in Northwest Florida that serves German food," says Marita Schroeder.
Many people travel from as far away as Destin and Niceville to enjoy the authentic German fare at The Greenery, which until last year was named The Creamery because it originally served ice cream.
However, the ample menu doesn't stop at German food. The Greenery offers a varied selection beginning with the area's best breakfast at 7 a.m. daily, including Eggs Benedict and other gourmet dishes, lunch includes an array of salads, soups and sandwiches and dinner has Gulf Coast favorites such as Grouper Ponchartrain, Chicken Fried Chicken and many other delectable entrees. The Greenery recently added
a wine bar, and offers a large selection of German beers and German wines, among other favorites.
So, head over to The Greenery to sample German or Gulf Coast favorites soon.
