November offers a feast for the senses Iadmit that there is probably no month in the year that I love more than November
- a month of feasting to fill the senses. Cooler air makes every task feel more enjoyable, and we have our magnificent Gulf Coast more to ourselves as locals fill the beaches, bays and bayous, many for the first time. I seek airconditioned spaces in the summer, but I run out the door in autumn to embrace and enjoy our area!
I am certainly one of those locals who prefers enjoying the beach, kayaking, canoeing and even strolling much, much more in the cooler temperatures November provides. I love the joy and delight of the beginning of the holiday season of the year. Starting with harvest time and leading into Thanksgiving, November just feels like a comfy pair of sweats. Let the hustle of the Christmas holidays hit me head-on in December, I am going to enjoy my November, languishing in it!
There is so much to enjoy this month, from the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, Veteran's day parade on Pensacola Beach Saturday, Nov. 11, the Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow that same weekend, the Snowball Derby and of course, gathering with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving.
We have so much to be thankful for this year, with a calm storm season, among many other things.
One of my favorite events is shopping on the day after Thanksgiving to usher in the holiday spirit, then coming home with my packages to wrap and put under the tree.
This month's Splash! Magazine is full of fun happenings, so check 'em out.
Even if you're tired of political ads, don't forget to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday November 7.
