Take a holiday from stress and strife
Who can resist the holiday season? I know the story of 'A Christmas

Carol' may get tired and worn after a while, but our lives' experience tells us that even most Scrooges get into the swing when holiday parties and festivities begin!

It is common to hear from many Northwest Floridians that they are feeling uniquely festive this year, and a drive through the neighborhood confirms that we have come back to life to welcome the holiday season. Is it our recovery from the worst hurricane seasons on record? Is it the especially cold, early winter we are enjoying? Who knows - just jump in and take a holiday from the stress and strife of everyday life!

As usual, Splash! Magazine is full of wonderful happenings. Check out the calendar pages and review our gift guide for shopping ideas. Make your plans to bundle up against the unseasonably cold weather we are having and schedule a ride on the Winterfest Trolley, drop by the Zoo Northwest Florida to enjoy strolling the zoo grounds at night, seeing the animals in their nocturnal environment and enjoying the thousands of lights that make up the lovely display!

If fishing is your fancy, drop by the Pensacola Beach Pier and follow the recommendations of Splash! Magazine fishing columnist Mark Clabaugh. It is definitely not too cold to fish, and Mark tells ya how it's done!

Some people plan a wonderful night on Pensacola Beach or downtown for New Year's Eve, and there is more than enough to do. Remember, don't drink and drive.

Most importantly, remember to take a holiday from stress and strife and embrace the season -- and your loved ones!
