The institute also will provide educational resources aimed to prevent injuries. |

Dr. Andrews earned his reputation as being the doctor who could enable athletes to continue having successful careers even after what was once considered a "career-ending" injury.
His patient list reads like a who's who of professional sports: Charles Barkley, Jerry Pate, and Emmitt Smith, to name a few from the fields of basketball, golf and football, respectively.
So when Dr. Andrews decided to lend his name and expertise to world class institute for orthopaedics and sports medicine in Northwest Florida, partnering with Baptist Healthcare and Gulf Breeze Hospital, it was big news for the small town.
The impact on Northwest Florida and Gulf Breeze will secure the area as a cradle for musculoskeletal treatments and research. The Institute is comprised of several divisions including: Multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center, Outpatient Rehabilitation, Diagnostic Imaging Center, Athletic Performance Center, a Research and Education Institute, and a multi-specialty office park for physicians.
The Institute is located on property contiguous to the Gulf Breeze Hospital in Gulf Breeze.
Gulf Breeze Hospital has the distinction of leading the nation in patient satisfaction for more than eight consecutive years. This location along with the established reputation of Dr. Andrews, have the potential to attract national and international attention to the area for superior medical care in orthopaedics and research, while also contributing to the local economy. The Institute should create an estimated 150 new jobs, with nearly $10 million in wages, in the highly educated and technical fields of musculoskeletal research and health care. The combined impact of the patient clientele and employment opportunities related to the Institute would further enhance Northwest Florida's ability to create an environment for positive growth while creating a reputation for world class medical care.
The Andrews Institute's Athletic Performance and Research Pavilion is home to the Athletic Performance Center and The Research and Education Institute. This close relationship serves all of our athletes with the most advanced and up to date training programs available.
Strength Center, encompassing approximately 9,000 square feet of training area equipped with Olympic lifting platforms, free weights, machine weights, and cardiovascular equipment.
Performance Testing Lab with the latest technology in bio mechanical and motion analysis. Our scientists use this equipment to give athletes a competitive advantage by analyzing technique, form, and efficiency.
Performance Pool with Hydroworx to give athletes the ability to experience aquatic resistance training in multiple depths. The Hydroworx 2000 is a pool with a treadmill surface that can be raised or lowered to the desired depth. Jets add resistance along with the treadmill and our underwater video analysis gives athletes a chance to measure their technique while training underwater.
Bob Harriman, administrator of Gulf Breeze Hospital and the Andrews Institute, said the center is being inspected in December with a soft opening planned for January.
A grand opening is tentatively planned for March.
