Smooth Jazz and Jingle Bells at OWC

Dec. 16

"Smooth Jazz and Jingle Bells" return to the Emerald Coast as WSBZ Seabreeze Radio presents "A Peter White Christmas", featuring trumpeter Rick Braun and saxtress Mindi Abair. This jazzy event is coming Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30pm to the Arts Center at OWC. The show is unique in its blend of contemporary smooth jazz with traditional holiday music, making for a "Cool Yule" for the whole family.

Peter White, Rick Braun and Mindi Abair will deck the halls with jazzy versions of seasonal classics, a few original holiday songs and some of their best known hits. The show promises enough fun, funk, jazz and pop to get even the meanest of Scrooges into the spirit.

Peter White, who first made his mark as a teenager while playing with singer-songwriter Al Stewart, has recorded and/or toured with Basia, Dave Koz, Richard Elliot, Boney James, David Benoit,

and others. His long list of hit albums in the contemporary jazz format includes his current release "Playing Favorites."

On the concert stage, trumpet master Rick Braun is a dynamic funkster who has recorded and toured behind collaborative duo and trio album projects with Boney James and Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown. Rick Braun wowed audiences here this past April at a sellout performance at the 2006 Seabreeze Jazz Festival in South Walton County.

The energetic Mindi Abair shared the stage on White's inaugural Christmas concert tour three years ago... and she's back for another trek. Before emerging as a solo artist, Abair toured with The Backstreet Boys, Mandy Moore, Duran Duran, and Jonathan Butler.

Tickets are reserved and on sale now at $35 for general admission and $75 for Front section seating. Tickets are available at Playground Music Center in Ft. Walton Beach and Kitchenique at the Market Shops at Sandestin. Order tickets by phone at the Arts Center Box Office by calling 729-6000 or online with a credit card at www.wsbz.com. Front Section seating is only available through the OWC Arts Center Box Office, by phone, or online.

Proceeds from the concert event will benefit WSBZ Radio's Music In The Schools program which offers jazz band clinics and music scholarships for music students in Okaloosa and Walton County schools. For more information call 850- 267-3279.
