'Geronimo's Outpost' opens the door to quality gift items in an historic setting
A dolphin carving by Palm Tiki made of Humpback Whale Cypress is just one of many unique and beautiful gifts at Geronimo's Outpost on Pensacola Beach. There is an exciting thing happening on Pensacola Beach and it has a lot to do with two activities every enjoys -- spending time on beautiful Pensacola Beach and shopping!
Over 60 local merchants and artists with goods from around the world have come together to one convenient location. The store is named after the famous Apache Warrior who was inprisoned at Ft. Pickens for 15 months. The attractive, airconditioned interior is designed to resemble the prison walls and floors of the fort, and each merchant has creatively designed his retail space to complement the interior while defining its own product line.
Geronimo's Outpost represents the perfect win-win situation: specialty vendors are offered the opportunity to affordably and conveniently bring their wares to the Old Towne type setting and shoppers are afforded a onestop location for a wonderful variety of goods.
"We are excited about the opportunity to offer our customers a marketplace for unique art and gifts from artisans all along the gulf coast," says owner Fred Simmons. "And we know it helps make selling their products a reality with the shared approach."
Sean Sweeney pays Angelika for his Blue Angel memorabilia at Geronimo's Outpost while sister Erin and mom Mary look on. Gift items including tooled leather bags, hand carved wood works, jewelry and many other unique, quality items await. Co-owner Angelika agrees, stating "We were visiting in San Diego and fell in love with a similar shopping experience and are so happy to bring it home to Pensacola Beach." Angelika, owner of the local boutique, Venus in Paradise, has relocated it to the location. Venus in Paradise specializes in high-quality, high-fashion clothing.
Santa Rosa Island Authority General Manager Buck Lee agrees that the Outpost is good for all of Pensacola Beach. "It's going to give these small shop owners a way to market their products. Looks good to me!"
Located at 69 Via De Luna, the store is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
