Bowls fly at Manna Food Bank fundraiser

2007-11-01 / Happenings

Pensacola Junior College invites the community to get down and artsy at "Throw a Bowl for Manna," a fundraiser where guests can throw bowls at the potter's wheel.

The fun runs 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts on the college's Pensacola campus. No potter's wheel experience is required thanks to assistance from PJC visual arts instructors.

Hosted by PJC and Manna, the excitement includes a PJC faculty art show, music by the PJC Jazz Band, delicious appetizers and beverages. Show your support with a donation. Next, the bowls are headed for "Fill a Bowl for Manna" 25th anniversary party Jan. 19. Festivities are 1 to 3 p.m. at Manna's main pantry, 116. E. Gonzalez St. Admission is $25 per person.

Guests select bowls to fill with soups prepared by local chefs - and take home as keepsakes - plus bid on bowls designed by local artists during a Silent Auction.

Manna is a non-profit organization that fights hunger in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. It annually serves more than 20,000 people in Northwest Florida.
