Art from the Heart is Feb. 2

Just in time for Valentine's Day, four painters and a jeweler: Eve Wilcox, Julia Johnson, Betty Jackson and Elaine Savige are opening a new show to delight all sweethearts at Quayside Gallery.

Quayside Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. New featured artist show

Blue Morning Gallery is featuring photography and jewelry work of Margret Hildreth with the watermedia and oils or painter, Dr. Morris Eaddy from Feb. 19 until March 24.

A special reception of "For the Love of Art," and a chance to meet the two artists will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.

The Belmont Arts Center has announced its lineup of spring 2007 workshops. The following workshops will run February through May 2007: Pottery: Wheel Throwing Workshop

The instructors are Steve Haworth and Marty North and will feature six-week workshops for beginners, intermediates and advanced potters. One-on-one instruction is the hallmark of this program. All materials, tools and firings included. Sculpting 'the head in clay' Workshop

Instructors will be Sam Nettles the program will feature five-week workshops for beginners, intermediates and advanced potters. Anatomy and underlying geometric construction of the head will be the focal point of this workshop, with special attention aimed at creating an expressive work of art. Demonstrations, critiques and technical specifications will be offered. All materials included.

Glass Bead Making

The Instructor will be Meredith Hartsfield. This program is available in oneday and two-week courses for both beginner, intermediate and advanced bead makers. No glass working experience required for beginner course. All materials included. Figure Drawing, Independent Study

These are figure drawing sessions with live models. Bring your own supplies and work at your own pace. Informal critiques after each session. American Tribal Belly Dancing

The instructor will be Maria Gomez and the class is designed for beginners, this eight-week workshop is a class in which students are instructed in basic belly dance moves formatted in the American Tribal Style.

Belmont Youth Band

Instructors will include Vivian Lamont and Rudy Pendleton. This ongoing class works with students of all musical talents and levels. Students are provided with instruments of their choice and the class is free for children ages 8 to 18.

Family Art Days

The class gives children and their guardians an opportunity to work together in creating their own glass, painted or pottery masterpiece with Belmont's Family Art Days. All materials included.

Glass Blowing/One-Day Workshop for Beginners

Joe Hobbs will facilitate this one-day, three-hour course that teaches students the basics of blowing and manipulating glass. Participants will be given the opportunity to create simple glass objects, such as paperweights, flowers, freeform sculpture, and vessels. All materials included. Glass Blowing/One-Day advanced Workshop

Joe Hobbs also directs this one-day, three-hour course that is designed for advanced glass blowers and will focus on the art of sculpting glass. All materials included.

Glass Blowing/intermediate Two-day Workshop

With this two-day workshop, Joe Hobbs will teach students will build on their basic skills. Using both colored and colorless glass, participants will create objects such as cups, vessels, and sculpture. All materials included. Glass Blowing/intermediate & Beginner Two-Week Workshop

The instructor is Joe Hobbs.

This two-week workshop teaches students the basics of blowing and manipulating glass in more detail than the one or two day class. Using both colored and colorless glass, participants will create objects such as paperweights, free-form sculpture, cups and vessels. All materials included.

Pre-registration required. All workshops will be held at the Belmont Arts Center, 401 North Reus St., located inside the window factory in downtown Pensacola. Prior experience is not required for any workshop.
