| HOLLYWOOD ... I don't know about you, but I'm a bit weary of all the bad stuff. Anna Nicole's demise, Britney's headshave, Lindsay's rehab, Mel's mouth, Ryan and Griffin O'Neal, and on and on. ... Sooo, the good news is that come 2008, Disney will bring us an animated feature titled "Tinker Bell" about that wondrous little friend of Peter Pan's. And for the first time, Tink will talk. Brittany Murphy voices the little creature. ... A word to you parents out there. If you haven't introduced your little one to Peter and Tink and Wendy and the little Lost Boys, get them away from that computer and do it. NOW!
Nic Cage has settled into New Orleans Garden District living, except most Orleanians aren't movie stars set to star in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" playing The Sorcerer. He's also on the big screen in thrillers "Next" and "Ghost Rider." Plus all this, he's producing a film titled "The Dresden Files" for the Sci-FiChannel, and looking for other projects. Through it all he manages to grocery shop and enjoy a relaxing meal at one of The Big Easy's many restaurants.
Long Time, No See. Sigourney Weaver is set to star for James Cameron in "Avatar," a sci-fiadventure to be shot in 3D. But get this. It won't be released until the summer of 2009. Weaver worked with Cameron in "Aliens," and they have enjoyed a great working relationship ever since. In "Avatar," Weaver plays a veteran explorer who serves as a mentor to a wounded former Marine who leads an interplanetary battle for survival.
Calista Flockhart, wearing her hair long long and blond blond, looks as if she may have put on a pound or two. Her life with Harrison Ford seems to be going well, and although she's just signed a six-year deal with ABC to costar in "Brothers and Sisters," which will keep her on the West Coast for quite a while, she has told interviewers she would love to do a stage play in New York. Most screen actors and actresses would like a fling at Broadway; few get the chance.
To Janet G. of El Paso, Texas. Thandie Newton was born in London to a Zimbabwean mother and an English father. She was raised in London and Zambia until she was 3, when due to Zambian unrest, her family moved permanently to London. She lives in England now with her husband and two children. She can be seen in "Norbit," along with Eddie Murphy and Cuba Gooding Jr. And just let me add that Cuba Gooding Jr. is one of the nicest young men you would ever want to meet, besides being a helluva good actor.
And to Roberta H. of Rochester, N.Y. Yup. It is cold out here on Oscar Night (or day). The reason all the ladies can walk the red carpet without a wrap is that there are so many hot lights, they keep the area warm. ... And to Dorian R. of Miami: Trust me and believe me, there is NOTHING going on between George Clooney and Julia Roberts. They are really good friends, have worked together and played together in films, BUT Danny Moder is still Julia's man! (c) 2007 King Features Synd., Inc.
