May offers spring themed art in local galleries Artel announces winners of 'The really really really small show'
Artel Gallery's "The Really Really Really Small Show" will run through May 11. Juror was W. T. Moore, former owner of Right Angles Gallery.
Winners are Laurel Siwicki, Best of Show; Sandy Ford, First Place; Chip Spirson, Second Place; Will Crane, Third Place; Pam Folse, Edgiest; and Michael Boles, Maria Hoch and Kreg Yingst, Honorable Mention.
OWC presents juried show May 13
Two new art exhibits will be on display May 13 to June 7 at the Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center Galleries in Niceville on the campus of Okaloosa-Walton College. An artists' reception and awards ceremony will be held in the OWC Holzhauer and McIlroy Galleries on Sunday, May 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. Both the opening reception and the exhibits are free and open to the public.
The Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, Inc. will present the Fifteenth Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition in the McIlroy Gallery. This year's juror for the ADSO exhibit is Dr. Amy Vigilante, Director of the University Galleries, University of Florida, Gainesville.
In the Holzhauer Gallery, the works of 2006 ADSO Best in Show (Golden Brush Award) recipient Anne Carothers will be featured. Carothers is a painter from Murfreesboro, Tenn. Her work is concerned with questions about the significance of vibrant, organic life.

Wright Place Gallery feature local married couple
The artworks of JoAnn and Don Holm are on display at the Wright Place Art Gallery through May 21. Both artists work primarily in acrylics and mixed media.
JoAnn has a measured approach and enjoys the challenge of construction and design both objective and nonobjective. Don has an intuitive approach and enjoys the challenge of focusing nonobjective creations. The artists were married in 1999 and independently started their post-retirement careers in the mid 90's at Pensacola Junior College. JoAnn is a displaying member of Quayside Art Gallery and both are members and past officers of Art Study Club.
Both artists have received recognition from juried exhibitions in the area, including best of show. In addition, JoAnn created the very successful "fish" poster for the 2003 Pensacola Seafood Festival.
The Wright Place Gallery presents "Anything Goes!" by JoAnn and Don Holm reflects the eclectic style and nature of both artists. Both work primarily in acrylics and mixed mediums.

Butterfly Galelry features local artist Sally Miller
The Dragonfly Gallery will feature local artist Sally Miller and her Plein Air Watercolors May 5-19. A reception to meet the artist will be on May 5 from 3- 5 p.m. at the Gallery, 5188 Escambia Street in historic downtown Milton.
Ms. Miller has been creating artwork for over 8 years. She has studied with Lee, Benson, Jim Watson, Peter Spatero and Nina Fritz.
Bagdad has been an inspiration for Ms Miller's plein art watercolor paintings. She is a native of Boston who has spent the last 16 years in living in Florida.
