Splash salutes the U.S. Military Have you hugged a soldier today? May is Military Appreciation Month, and Splash! Magazine wants to salute all the servicemen and women who contribute to the security of the United States.
Northwest Florida is home to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Hurlburt Field, Eglin Air Force Base, Whiting Field, Corry Field and other outposts, bringing trainees, career military and retirees to our area. You might say Northwest Florida bleeds red, white and the Blues, referring of course to the US Navy's Flight Demonstration team.
May is absolutely one of the best months for being outdoors. The beaches recently underwent a community cleanup effort and are back to pre-hurricane conditions. The water is sparkling clear and Mark Clabaugh says the fish are biting!
In this issue, we also tell about a big catch off Pensacola Beach, a 12-foot mako shark that is unusual for our waters.
It may be tempting to become a beach bum for the month, soaking up rays and watching the waves roll ashore, but there are a lot of other activities you won't want to miss. Check out the Splash! Calendar of Events to plan your month.
Thanks for reading Splash! Magazine. Look for us online at www.SplashPensacolaBeach.com for entertainment news and ads. And if you get the signal, watch for the "Splash! Moment" on the Gulf Breeze News TV Show, airing on Mediacom Channel 27.
