'Blues' return as 'Bands' to Pensacola Beach Wildwood opens Bands on the Beach 2007
Get ready for an exciting line up of bands playing every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m., May through September at the Gulfside Pavilion on Pensacola Beach. The popular concert series Bands on the Beach, formerly known as Blues on the Beach, returns for another hot summer season. The free concerts are provided by the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA).
"We changed the name from 'Blues on the Beach' to
Bands on the Beach' to offer a bigger variety," says W.A. "Buck" Lee, general manager of the SRIA. "Blues will still be an essential part, but now we can include oldies, soul and much more. We have booked first-rate bands all summer, so come on out here and bring your dancing shoes!"
Kicking off the season is Wildwood with their upbeat and fun show on May 1, followed by Midnight Confessions on May 8.
Blues lovers can look forward to Tinfeet on May 15 featuring Slim, aka Daniel Richardson, and Darren J. Trio on June 12 who are absolutely gaga about the blues. The lineup for the 2007 season includes: May 1, Wildwood, May 8, Midnight Confessions, May 15 , Tinfeet, May 22, Not Quite Fab (and unveiling of the US Marine Corps pelican), and May 29, Crosstown.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the SRIA.

"SHOWTIME 2007" is a fully staged production by ages 8-18 of the Pensacola Children's Chorus, with performances taking place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 4 & 5, at the Saenger Theatre. This year's theme is "A Musical Extravaganza."
Directed by Allen and Susan Pote, "SHOWTIME 2007" will feature a variety of music, spectacular costumes and lively choreography.
Included will be a salute to t h e S a e n g e r T h e a t r e ( w h i c h opened in 1925 as a vaudeville theater), as well as music from well-loved Broadway shows and the popular "High School Musical," a "Touch of Opera," a keyboard cabaret, and a special tribute to Admiral Jack Fetterman titled "To Build a Dream."
Over 300 performers, comprising seven choirs, will entertain in this fast paced delightful evening of music.
Directed by Allen and Susan Pote, "SHOWTIME 2007" features colorful costumes designed by LaRaye Ryan; choreography by Debbie Denes, Michael Dennis and guest choreographer Karen Hebert; and lighting by Mario Cieri.

Food vendors include: Cajun Specialty Meats, Mermaid Catering, and Zea's. For those who don't care for Cajun foods Fun Time Concessions will be serving traditional favorites, hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as Wild Boar Café serving barbeque. The crawfish vendor is Mike Hefner of Mike's Crawfish Boils from Duson, LA.
In addition to excellent Cajun and Creole dishes, the festival will present authentic Louisiana Bayou Country and Zydeco entertainment. Guests will enjoy the legendary Rosie Ledet and Cajun Swamp fiddler, Hadley Castille and the Sharecroppers Band. Also at the AT&T/ Cingular Wireless Entertainment Tent the 2nd Annual WXBM Crawfish Eating Contest will be held. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday WXBM will host a daily Crawfish eating contest! Check the entertainment schedule for registration and preliminary round times. Registration will be at the WXBM tent. Country music superstar Martina McBride, named "Best Live Act" of 2006 by the Chicago Sun Times, will be
heading to the P e n s a c o l a Civic Center for a show on May 6. Joining her for the tour will be 2006 b r e a k o u t artists Little Big Town and R o d n e y Atkins.

McBride will
release her ninth album, Waking Up Laughing, which she soloproduced.
A four-time CMA vocalist of the year, McBride is currently nominated for a 2007 Grammy in the "Best Female Country Vocal Performance" category for "I Still Miss Someone" off her platinum-selling Timeless album, which debuted at No. 1 on the country charts.
The Evenings in Olde Seville Square summer concert series is about to kick off its celebratory 20th season. The 2007 series features 14 concerts, satisfying musical tastes from big band to jazz and from Broadway to modern dance each Thursday from 7- 9:15 p.m., May 17-August 16 in historic Seville Square in downtown Pensacola.
The Evenings start with the popular McGuire's Bagpipe Band marching into Olde Seville Square at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. John Wooton & KAISO! Caribbean Band follow with their steel drums.

Progressive rock band will perform at the Pensacola Civic Center May 25.
Tool is an American rock band, formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California, that consists of drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones, and singer Maynard James Keenan.

Want a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with your picnic basket close at hand? What could be better than listening to a free concert of Broadway tunes, Sousa marches, and patriotic favorites, all performed by a professional orchestra in a pleasant outdoor setting?
"Picnic with Pops", a free concert featuring the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) of Okaloosa-Walton College will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday May 27, Memorial Day weekend, at the Mullet Festival grounds, located at Hwy. 85 and College Blvd. in Niceville.
The concert is geared for the whole family and will feature a collection of musical favorites including tunes from Broadway plays, old time patriotic Americana favorites, marches by Souza and more. During intermission local " Bluegrass " favorites "The Sandy Bottom String Band" featuring 2004 Fiddle Champion Matt Miller will entertain.
Bleacher seating is limited but there is ample space for attendees to bring their chairs, tables, blankets, etc. as well as their picnic baskets and coolers. Food will be available for purchase at the event The Front Porch Restaurant. The Mullet Festival Grounds will open at 1:00p.m.and close at 6:00 p.m.
The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra will be under the direction of Lois Van Dam for the event, which will be the last concert of the symphony's 20th anniversary season. The event is the 6th annual free Memorial weekend Pops concert sponsored by the N o r t h w e s t F l o r i d a S y m p h o n y Guild.
