Quips worth chuckling about

My wife and I had words, But I didn't get to use mine.

~~~~~
Frustration is trying to find your glasses without your glasses.
~~~~~

Blessed are those who can give without remembering. And take without forgetting.

~~~~~
The irony of life is that, by the time You're old enough to know your way around, you're not going anywhere.
~~~~~

God made man before woman so as to give him time to think of an answer for her first question.

~~~~~
I was always taught to respect my elders, but it keeps getting harder to find one.
~~~~~

Every morning is the dawn of a new error.

And here's one I used to use - If you see a snake, don't call a meeting, just kill the damned thing.

Bar-b-cue Rules

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a "real" man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ, the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

(4) The man puts the meat on the grill.

More routine....

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.

Important again:

(7) The man takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the woman.

More routine....

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all:

(10) Everyone praises and thanks him for his cooking efforts.

(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, "62." He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"

Grandchildren

After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. At last, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings.

As she left the room, she heard the 3-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

*****************************

A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods."

The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

*****************************

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo while I asked,"No, how are we alike?"

"You're both old," he replied.

*********************************

A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor She told him she was writing a story.

"What's it about?" he asked.

"I don't know," she replied. "I can't read."
