Marc Cohn to release album later this year

Q: What happened to the show "Pirate Master" that was on CBS? -- Mary W., Clarksville, Tenn.

A: "Pirate Master," the reality show created by Mark Burnett of "Survivor" fame, is finishing out its episodic run online at CBS.com.

Innertube, CBS's online television-episode subsite, began exclusively airing the show with the July 24 episode and will continue through the show's conclusion. If you go to CBS.com and click on "Full Episodes" and then "Pirate Master," you can watch the show from Episode 1 on. So, if you missed a week, this is your chance to see what you might have missed.

CBS also airs full episodes of many of its series, so check online and see if your favorite show can be watched from the comfort of your computer chair.

Q: I was happy to hear that singer Marc Cohn is releasing a new album later this year, but I had a question. He was talking about a "near-death experience" a few years ago. Do you know what he was referring to? I hadn't heard that he almost died. -- Anon., via e-mail

A: Back in August 2005, Marc had just played a concert at the Denver Botanic Gardens when he was accosted in the parking garage by a carjacker. When Marc refused to give him the keys to his van, the man shot the singer in the head. Luckily for Marc, the bullet lodged above his right temple without penetrating his skull, and he was released from the hospital the next day. On the lighter side, did you know that Marc was introduced to his current wife, Elizabeth Vargas of ABC's "20/20," by tennis star Andre Agassi at the 1999 U.S. Open?

Q: Now that Mandy Patinkin will no longer be on "Criminal Minds," who will they get to take his place? He was absolutely wonderful, and someone has some big shoes to fill! -- Anon., via e-mail

A: I agree! As of this writing, it was just announced that film and TV star Joe Mantegna will be replacing the incomparable stage and screen star on the popular crime drama.

I think it's a good move to cast someone who has similar name recognition but who usually plays different roles than Mandy, so as to draw fewer comparisons and allow Joe to make his own mark on the show.

Q: I loved, loved, loved Helena Bonham Carter in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." What's next for this talented gal? -- A reader in Texas

A: Helena co-stars with Johnny Depp in the much anticipated 2008 movie "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." However, I'd be willing to bet that the production she is most excited about is the impending birth of her second child with boyfriend Tim Burton. The couple recently announced that she will be having another child in December, providing their 3-year-old son, Billy, with a little brother or sister.
