Beach Optimist's photo contest will help beat childhood cancer
Shutterbugs, now's your chance to see how your photos measure up.
The Pensacola Beach Optimists are accepting entry forms and photos for the 2008 Island Fun Photo Contest, to help Optimist International fight childhood cancer around the world.
Each year in North America, more than 12,000 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer. One in 330 Americans develops cancer before the age of 20. Up to 70% of all childhood cancer can now be cured and childhood leukemia now has an 80% survival rate. The childhood cancer rate is dropping more dramatically for children than for any other age group due solely to coordinated research. Pensacola Beach Optimist Club and others throughout the 43 countries worldwide with Optimist Clubs, is trying to do our part to help.
