Though it's only the first full month of the season, Sept. is full of crucial match-ups that have major conference and national championship implications. So get the yardwork done, make the wife or girlfriend happy and make your way to your favorite sports bar with your buddies to soak up these four games.

In Week 2, on Sept. 6, the State of Florida prepares for its first major in-state battle. The Miami Hurricanes travel to Gainesville to take on the Fifth ranked Gators. Though Miami is not exactly the powerhouse of old, the in-state rivalry makes this match-up noteworthy.

ESPN will air the game at 7 p.m.

In Week 3 of the college football season, two powerhouses collide in an epic showdown for an inside track to the BCS National Championship Game. The University of Southern California and The Ohio State University football teams are both picked by some analysts to reach the championship game. The outcome of this huge Sept. 13 match-up in the Los Angeles Coliseum could determine which team can actually live up to those expectations. The game is set to air on television at 7 p.m. on ABC.

The very next week, on Sept. 20, SECWest rivals Auburn and LSU square off in Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. In six of the last eight seasons, the winner of this annual battle has represented the West Division in the SEC Championship game. As of press time, the television coverage was tba.

Also in Week 4 is the annual SEC East battle between Florida and Tennessee. This year the Gators must travel to Knoxville to take on their divisional rivals. Florida enters the contest with a three year winning streak against the Vols, so there is no doubt the folks on Rocky Top are hungry for some fresh Gator meat.

These are the four games in Sept. that the serious college football fan just simply cannot miss. So plan your schedule accordingly and enjoy the early-season excitement. Oh, and if your wife or girlfriend are furious with you for spending the day at a sports bar, I'm sure theses games will be worth the trouble.
