Get your fill of bowls in December
Well, college football fans, the month of December is upon us and that means one thing: the regular season is over and our annual Christmas present of bowl games is ready to be opened.
This year, there are 22, yes 22, bowl
games in December, beginning with the EagleBank Bowl in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 20.
Why sit around the house all day watching the end-of-the-year showdowns when you could go to Will Call Sports Grill in downtown Pensacola?
A list of 22 reasons would be a little bit cumbersome, so I'll just do half. Here are 11 reasons to get up, get out and get down to Will Call to catch the games:
1. TVs: This was an easy call. That is, if you don't have 47 big-screens, including a huge, projection-screen TV in your living room. You can watch all the games at once and there's never something blocking your line of sight.
2. Chores: While sitting in the safe
confines of Will Call, you won't have to worry about your attention being redirected to any work that needs doing. The dirty dishes will be taken care of by the staff.
3. Food/Drinks: Have someone else worry about preparing you some great food and drinks, allowing you to only worry about how your team is playing.
4. Service: Have someone else bring you your favorite food and/or drinks without having to "pay for it" later. Well, except for the cost of course, which is small compared to an IOU to you know who.
5. Environment: With a packed house of college football fans, it will feel as though you are actually at the game. You don't have to worry about being the only one in the house yelling at the TV.
6. Memorabilia: Jerseys displaying names like Montana and Jackson adorn the interior of the building and are sure to spark memories of great bowl games of the past.
7. Covered Balcony Patio: If your team is struggling, what better way to vent your frustration than to fire up some banter with a passer-by on Palafox, and do it safely out of the reach of their right hook.
8. WiFi: You can get on the Internet if you want to keep up with stats and online commentary during the game.
9. Happy Hour: Enjoy two for one well drinks and wine and discounts on draft beer from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday. Coincidentally, that's when the majority of the bowl games are played.
10. No Clean Up: One of the worst things about hosting a football party at your home is the mess left behind. Free yourself from post-party clean up.
11. Convenient Location: Let's face it. If your team wins you'll likely head to a bar to celebrate. If your team loses, you'll probably go to drown your sorrows. The good thing about watching the game at Will Call is you're already there to gloat or whine when it's all said and done!
Feel free to substitute these with any reason you feel demands you to get out of the house and go to Will Call, or any other sports bar of your choosing. Whatever the case, it's always fun to be around a large group of people gathered at a place for the same reason--to enjoy some good football.
Hope to see you out and Happy Holidays!
