'Harvey' features a sixand one-half foot rabbit by Barry Shuck
Seen a 6 and a half foot rabbit lately? It could be beause of the hit play entitled "Harvey," opening February 8-10 and 15-17 at the historic Imogene Theatre, 6866 Caroline Street in downtown Milton.
"This play brings about in a humorous way how self-absorbed society is," said Paxton McCaghren, who plays the part of Dowd. "Everyone is always looking to come out on top."
The tale centers around Dowd and his imaginary friend named Harvey, who just happens to be a very large white rabbit.
"The story is the result of people's need for escapism," stated Donna Quinn, who is cast as Dowd's confidant and sister Veta. "Ridiculous situations are centered on believable characters using humor as the core."
"Harvey" is a critically-acclaimed comedy written in 1944. The hilarious storyline centers on while at a rather high-brow society party, Dowd begins to introduce his imaginary friend to guests at the get-together. Dowd's sister Veta has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate and subsequently decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter and their family name any further embarrassment.
