| Enjoy a full day of old-fashioned, outdoor, family fun at the 20th Forestry Conclave and Lumberjack Festival.
Sponsored by the Pensacola Junior College Milton Forestry Club and S t u d e nGovernmen free event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the PJC Milton campus. It's a day of food, bluegrass music, nature exhibits, games and competitions for all ages, free seedlings, awards and door prizes.
The festival is actionpacked, featuring log rolling, bow sawing, axe and knife throwing, pole felling, compass pacing and more. Activities for children include softball, face painting, coloring and crafts.
The festival splits lumberjack competitions and events into three age classes at different times: adults (ages 16 and up), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; children (under 12), 9 to 11 a.m.; juniors (ages 13 to 15), 11 a.m. to noon. It's fun to watch and compete.
Registration fee for lumberjack competitions is $3 per adult for the first event and $1 for each additional event. Children, senior citizens and high school students compete for free. Exhibitors include the Florida Division of Forestry, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Santa Rosa Master Gardeners, New Horizon Nature Photography, Wildlife Sanctuary, PJC Zootech, Florida Trail Association and Girl Scout Troop 489.
